{"id":1811,"date":"2026-10-28T16:18:37","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T16:18:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tamilnadutribune.in\/?p=1811"},"modified":"2026-10-28T16:18:38","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T16:18:38","slug":"india-boosts-clean-energy-cooperation-with-singapore-bhutan-and-global-agencies-at-siew-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tamilnadutribune.in\/?p=1811","title":{"rendered":"India Boosts Clean Energy Cooperation with Singapore, Bhutan and Global Agencies at SIEW 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To strengthen international cooperation in renewable energy and power infrastructure, Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Power and New &amp; Renewable Energy, led the Indian delegation to <strong>&#8216;Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2026&#8217;<\/strong>, held from October 26 to 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the conference, Naik said that India\u2019s installed power capacity stood at 558.9 GW as of September 30, 2026, with approximately 308 GW, or 55 percent, coming from non-fossil fuel sources. India aims to achieve a non-fossil fuel capacity of 500 GW by 2030 after crossing the 50 percent milestone in June 2025\u2014which is five years ahead of its target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bilateral Meetings Focus on Cross-Border Power Links and Clean Energy Cooperation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the sidelines, Naik held bilateral meetings with representatives from Singapore, Bhutan, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA). These discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as cross-border power connectivity, investments in transmission and energy storage, green hydrogen and hydropower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlighting India\u2019s clean energy initiatives, Naik said that around 53 lakh rooftop solar systems had been installed under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, benefiting approximately 63 lakh households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a meeting with Bhutan\u2019s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, Lyonpo Sonam Tashi, Naik reviewed the progress of the 1,200 MW Punatsangchhu-I and 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II hydroelectric projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his visit, he toured Sembcorp\u2019s 326 MWh battery energy storage facility on Jurong Island and Keppel\u2019s 22 MW waste-to-energy plant in Tuas, which is capable of processing 800 tonnes of waste daily.
