Special Campaign 6: Ministries and Departments Intensify Preparatory Activities

Date:

The government’s ‘Special Campaign 6’ is gaining momentum with the aim of improving cleanliness in government offices, reducing pendency, and strengthening record management. This campaign will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) is the nodal department for this campaign.

During the preparatory phase running from September 16 to September 30, the focus has been on the appointment and training of nodal officers, identification of pending matters, designation of offices for cleanliness drives, and assessment of e-waste for disposal.

Ministries and departments have also formulated plans for e-waste management, ‘Waste-to-Wealth’ initiatives, office space improvements, and the systematic management and preservation of records.

The progress of this campaign is being monitored through a dedicated ‘Special Campaign 6’ web portal, where ministries and departments are required to upload their targets for the preparatory phase.

More than 40 senior officials participated in person and over 800 virtually in a review meeting chaired by DARPG Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma. These officials represented 84 ministries, departments, PSUs, and field offices across more than 500 locations.

Officials from various ministries—including Railways, Defence, Agriculture, External Affairs, Mines, and the Department of Posts also presented their plans for ‘Special Campaign 6’.

The government is also utilizing electronic, print, and social media to raise public awareness about this campaign. So far, 1,039 posts and 54 PIB statements have been issued under #SpecialCampaign6. DARPG will release a compendium of best practices from this campaign as part of ‘Good Governance Week 2026’.
